Visiting Berea College

Sophisticated Berea College Lodging

Our guests are visiting Berea College and the Berea community from all corners of the country, not unlike the students who attend the college campus. Stay with us on your visit to the school for luxurious and homey Berea College lodging. Many of the handcrafted furnishings in our hotel were made by the students themselves. On top of that, 50% of our staff are enrolled fulltime at Berea College as well.

Berea College

Nestled in the foothills of Appalachia, Berea College is home to 1,600 students who demonstrate great promise yet have limited economic resources. These students hail from various places, cultures, perspectives, and experiences. Every student receives a full-tuition scholarship, a campus job, and a high-quality liberal arts education, making Berea like no other college in the nation. To learn more about Berea College's unique mission, please visit www.berea.edu.

Visitor Center & Shoppe

The Visitor Center & Shoppe is the exclusive home of Berea College spirit wear and merchandise, where student employees learn about what it takes to run a small business. Watch a student demonstrate how different Berea College Student Crafts are made before you purchase them in-store. Take one (or more!) of three free student-led tours: Historical, Craft, and Eco/Sustainability. Each tour is approximately 50 minutes. For more information on the Visitor Center & Shoppe or to book a tour, please visit www.berea.edu/visitor-center. To purchase Berea College merchandise online, please visit www.bcshoppe.com

Student Crafts

Starting in 1893 and continuing for more than 120 years, a dedication to craftsmanship, design, and tradition has guided the work of our students. Over 100 Berea College students work 10 to 15 hours per week in the various departments of Student Crafts. From the sales and distribution areas to the studio areas of Wood, Weaving, Ceramics, Jewelry, and Broom Making, our students produce and market works that maintain strong ties to the elemental nature of the Appalachian region—design excellence, a respect for materials, and the honor that comes from hard work.

Educating the head, the heart, and the hands are a Berea tradition. We hope you will discover the artful soul of our students in the inspiring works of Berea College Crafts. Visit us at www.berea.edu/student-crafts or purchase our crafts online at www.bereacrafts.com.
